It's 26th January today, The historical day to remember our national heroes and freedom fighters, who suffered to give us a republic nation. January 26 marks an important day in India's history. In 1950, the country became a republic after attaining independence three years earlier.
On this very day, the most important document in the country, our constitution came into effect as well and is considered sacrosanct always. Every year Republic Day is celebrated in India on 26th January with grandeur. This day is celebrated with great pomp and show around the country. Everybody watches the grand parade that takes place in New Delhi, comprising the Indian National Army and national flag hoisting in various parts of the country are common practices followed on this day.
Not only that, global public and political figure graces the country with their presence as the chief guest. Republic Day is a national holiday in India. It honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed republic.
